The Civitan International Club, also known as Campus Civitan, held their first meeting of the semester Thursday, Jan. 13. The meeting reviewed upcoming events and introduced new members to the club.

Having been part of Gardner-Webb for two years now, students involved in this club work with people who have intellectual and physical disabilities in the community through helping with local events.

“This semester, our club will be involved with a few major events such as, Special Olympics, Autism Awareness Month and R Word Campaign,” said Marissa Richardson, president of Civitan International.

In honor for Martin Luther King Jr. day, Civitan International Club will team up with the Women’s Volleyball Team to serve Miracle Hill Ministries with their outreach to the homeless in Gaffney, S.C. on Monday, Jan. 18 at 1:00 p.m. returning at 5:00 p.m. The van will depart from the Tucker Student Center.

Civitan International is one of many clubs at Gardner-Webb. Additional information about other clubs and organizations can be found on Gardner-Webb’s website. To contact the Civitan International Club, please contact Richardson at [email protected].
