When most people hear the words “love letter” they usually think it’s an exchange of romantic thoughts and emotions between two people who care about each other. Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honors group at Gardner-Webb, participated with an organization called The World Needs More Love Letters, by writing to people who need a boost in their self-esteem.

This organization dedicates itself to spreading love throughout the world using pen and paper. The movement was started by Hannah Brencher when she graduated college and moved to New York City to pursue her dreams. Things did not go like she planned and she found herself dealing with depression. In order to liberate herself she wrote letters in her journal and left them around the town.

Shea Stuart and Janah Adams are the university’s co-sponsors for More Love Letters. The group wrote their letters on last Monday and sent them to different people.

“This is the third year that Sigma Tau Delta has participated in More Love Letters,” said Stuart. Stuart and Adams love to encourage people and reach out, especially when they can relate to their situation.
