The mention of Valentine’s Day brings to mind the need for stuffed animals, boxes of chocolate and romance. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the Student Nursing Association hosted “Make a Valentine,” an event to make and send cards to the children of the Levine Children’s Hospital.

On Wednesday February 4, between the times of 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., students on campus were invited to join SNA and make a Valentine’s Day Cards.

The idea came from Nicole Waters during a board meeting. At their January meeting, a few members of SNA began making a few handmade cards. It was then, that the group decided it should be something for the entire school to get involved with.

Participants were allowed to make as many cards as they wanted, Hallie Hefner said it is a great way to remind these children that they “loved and thought about.” Many of the children at Levine are battling terminal illnesses, disorders and diseases. It is important to remind them that they are important and they matter.
