As graduation approaches for Megan Polzin, it seems that she is far ahead of the game. The Raleigh, N.C., native and Biology major, Polzin already has her eyes set on her next journey to graduate school.
“I hope to get my masters [and] study infectious diseases at Appalachian State,” she said.
What she enjoyed most about being a student at Gardner-Webb was the friendships. Polzin enjoyed the friendships that she built with classmates and professors, in addition to the atmosphere. She appreciated the small classrooms, and being able to get to know her professors on a personal level really helped her thrive in college.
Polzin isn’t all work and no play, when she doesn’t have her head buried in textbooks, Polzin is interested in soccer. She enjoys keeping up with the English Premier league.
“Most people would be surprised to know I like it, they don’t see me as being very athletic,” said Polzin.
Polzin’s advice to undergraduate students is “Do your research! You need it to do what you want. It’s especially important for grad school.”
She believes in going after your passion and really making it happen. Polzin believes that in order to be great at anything you have to work for it, rather than studying just to get by.
