Today, you get to meet our last contestant in the Annual Miss GWU Pageant, Amber Townsend. Amber is a Senior from Spruce Pine, NC. She has wanted to participate in the pageant every year she’s been here and is finally doing it this year.
What motivated you to participate in the Miss GWU Pageant?
I have always been interested in participating in this pageant, and I have heard how much fun they were. Since this is my last year here, I figured I would give it a shot. I would love to be the person that represents GWU and to tell all about my wonderful experience here.
What do you think makes you a good contestant?
I believe I am a good contestant, because I love talking to people and sharing my experiences with them. My main goal is to make everyone that I see smile. Whether that be by telling a corny joke or giving an encouraging word when someone needs it the most.
What has been your favorite part of the pageant process so far?
I have loved getting to know each of these girls. Throughout the preparation process, I have made so many new friends and each of these girls have the sweetest souls. I am blessed to have met them through this process.
What talent are you planning on showcasing during the pageant?
I will be showcasing my hand-balancing talent, like in a circus. I will performing an acrogymnastics routine. Hand-blanacing is where I will be doing handstands on a stand that is 3 feet tall.
What are you looking forward to the most?
I am honestly looking forward to performing my talent routine, because it is something that not a lot of people may know of, so I am introducing them into a new area of gymnastics. Also, the opening number is going to be pretty great and I cannot wait to showcase that.
Check back with us to meet a new Miss GWU Candidate each day leading up to the pageant! The pageant will take place in the Dover Theatre, on April 2, at 3:00 p.m.
