Community Spotlight: Hope Community Church hosts College Night

By Janiya Harrison

“For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” Matthew 18:20

On Nov. 16, Hope Community Church hosted a college night for local area students. The night was filled with worship, fun, love, and the opportunity to have various college students come together to praise the Lord.

“College Night isn’t something that is going to end your semester rather it’s going to start your transition to going back home. I started going because I could celebrate with my friends about what God had and continues to do here on campus. Through learning who God says I am, I am reminded of who He called me to be in the kingdom,” said Luke Beamer, class of ’21 Exercise Science major.

It is in the moments like College Night where we are reminded of how great our God is and how awesome it is that we get to worship Him freely without condemnation. “I started going because I was reminded, I was loved by my community and my creator as well. In these moments you get to be fulfilled in the spirit with fellow believers,” said Mikey West, class of ’22 Young Discipleship Studies major.

So, when we come back next semester, I triple dog dare you to come to College Night. Allow the spirit of God to overtake you and remind you in that moment you are valued and loved. It is nothing better than to be here the sounds of worship leaving the mouths of fellow young people. There are no downfalls to coming, ask yourself “Why not?” I promise that your life will be changed!
