Elections for the\u00a0Student Government Association’s\u00a0Executive Council takes place from March 3 to March 5. Each\u00a0candidate prepared and delivered a speech for the student body on Tuesday morning at Dimensions.<\/p>\n
Anna Kullmar, the current\u00a0vice-president for SGA, is running unopposed this year and has exciting things planned as President for the 2015-2016 year. \u201cI care about representing the student body and I feel this is where niche\u2019s line up,\u201d said Kullmar. Kullmar believes, that in order for the student government to work efficiently it starts internally. She also wants student\u2019s voices to be heard by the university officials. \u201cI represent you, your wants, desires, and frustrations.\u201d<\/p>\n
Connor Bos, a sophomore, is campaigning to become SGA Vice President. Bos this past year was on the Executive Council as Treasurer. He organized and supervised all the finances of GWU clubs. As Treasurer he wanted to empower the students by the finances they were given in their clubs. \u201c I want to make SGA more known on campus and promote our services to students,\u201d said Bos.<\/p>\n
Alex Bennett, a sophomore, is also running for SGA Vice President. He wants to add things to campus that make it more enjoyable for students. He is receiving a Communication and New Media degree and feels those skills will help him in the position of Vice President. \u201cMyself and Connor are both very good candidates, but I feel like I have the leadership qualities and the take-charge personality that I can use efficiently,\u201d said Bennett.<\/p>\n
Nate Allman, a freshman, is the only candidate for Executive Council Treasurer. \u201cAs Treasurer I want to streamline the club funding process to make it quicker and easier,\u201d said Allman. Club communication is key to Allman and he sees many opportunities for improvement. \u201cIf we increase community in clubs we will be able to impact the community as a university,\u201d said Allman.<\/p>\n
Jessica Saltijeral, a junior, has high hopes to become SGA Secretary. She took over the secretarial position for the second semester because the former secretary graduated. \u201cI want to revamp the position of secretary because it hasn\u2019t been looked at in a couple years,\u201d said Saltijeral. Saltijeral feels SGA has been promoted in various ways and she now wants to focus on enhancing different aspects internally, so the promoting will show throughout the improvements. \u201cI will see where we need changes made and will make them happen,\u201d said Saltijeral.<\/p>\n
Bekah Rhea is a sophomore running for SGA Secretary. Rhea has a different way of approaching problems and solving them. \u201cI look for creative or uncouth methods to get the job done when the ordinary system doesn’t suffice,\u201d said Rhea. She hopes that students now and in the future benefit from her services in SGA. \u201cWhat I do plan on is following through. When concerns arise, I will follow through until there is an answer or a possible solution, and I will do what it takes to get that information from students to administration and vice versa efficiently and eloquently.\u201d<\/p>\n
