The desserts were white house cherry, mint, bacon, southern butter pecan and cranberries with walnuts.<\/p>\n<p>There were two rounds of voting. The first round of voting was by Delores Hunt, vice president of student development; Brad Vaughn, office manager for student activities, Shea Stuart, assistant professor of English and Charlie Eudy, a freshman student<em>. <\/em>A rubric was given to the voters to determine the quality of each batch of fudge including texture, taste, appearance and over-all product.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1858\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1858\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_0388.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1858\" src=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_0388-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Money raised during the fudge competition went to support Charlee Rae as she undergoes treatment for a rare genetic disorder. Pagcaliwagan and Bradshaw labeled six jars that corresponded with the fudge flavors and the tasters voted by putting money in their favorite jar. All proceeds went to support <a href=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/?p=1334\" target=\"_blank\">Charlee Rae<\/a>, daughter of American Sign Language professor Russ Gribble, as she undergoes treatment for \u00a0Mucopolysaccharidosis Type I, a progressive genetic disorder that prevents the breakdown of excess materials in the body.<\/p>\n<p>Pagcaliwagan and Bradshaw were both confident in their baking skills. Pagcaliwagan laughed as she explained, \u201cWe have been talking smack for three months! It started with us talking about baking and Bradshaw mentioned fudge and we both argued that ours was better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More than 30 students attended the fudge competition, in much to the surprise of both of the competitors who only advertised the event one day to faculty and a class.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1859\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1859\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_0376.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1859\" src=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_0376-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Students taste tested the variations of fudge during the competition that took place in the Tucker Student Center. The four judges voted Bradshaw\u2019s southern butter pecan as their favorite, but the popular vote was won by Pagcaliwagan\u2019s I-Mint-To-Tell-You-It\u2019s-Fudge.<\/p>\n<p>Pagcaliwagan\u2019s mint fudge won by 10 dollars more than the second place popular vote. The donations at the event amounted to \u00a0collected amounted to $63.32.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am beyond surprised at how generous people were,\u201d Pagcaliwagan commented.\u201cLittle Charlie Rae just had a surgery last week.
