{"id":2383,"date":"2016-03-17T18:49:20","date_gmt":"2016-03-17T22:49:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/?p=2383"},"modified":"2016-03-17T18:49:20","modified_gmt":"2016-03-17T22:49:20","slug":"senior-swimmer-makes-gwu-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/?p=2383","title":{"rendered":"Senior swimmer makes GWU history"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By: Tessa Walsh<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gardner-Webb Swimming\u2019s Nathan Lile made program history by being invited to attend Division One NCAAs.\u00a0 The senior was the first male to be invited to the meet in Gardner-Webb\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Lile\u2019s 50-yard freestyle time that qualified him for the meet was done at the Bulldog Last Chance Meet in Athens, GA on Feb. 27 at 19.49 seconds. His time earned him the spot of 23<sup>rd<\/sup> in the nation, where only 29 were invited to the Division One NCAAs.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the 50-yard freestyle, Lile earned a spot in the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly as bonus events.<\/p>\n<p>He has won several awards and currently holds seven individual school records, as well as four individual conference records. Lile was also named Costal Colligate Swimming Association\u2019s (CCSA) Most Outstanding Male Swimmer of the year his junior and senior year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaking the national meet is an incredible way to finish [his] college career,\u201d said Mike Simpson, head swimming coach. \u201cStatistically it is the fastest meet in the world every year.
