Shelby Robinson, a junior biblical studies major, led the event by preaching from Amos 5.<\/p>\n<p>In the ESV, Amos 5:24 says \u201cBut let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.\u201d Robinson said that through worship night, she wanted to give people, \u201ca different perspective on injustice throughout the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2467\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2467\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0585-XL.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2467\" src=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0585-XL-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Students gather in worship in preparation for the week of awareness. Photo by Megan Hartman\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0585-XL-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0585-XL.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2467\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students gather in worship in preparation for the week of awareness.<br \/>Photo by Megan Hartman<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Sarah Branch and Jacob Kirby sang at the beginning and end of the night, where the group of around forty people were encouraged to sing along, with lyrics such as, \u201cYou came to set the captives free.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Branch noted that she had, \u201cnever heard much about [human trafficking] until [she] came to Gardner-Webb.\u201d Kirby, Branch, Robinson and other performers were asked to lead the event by Release the Captives in order to, \u201cset a nice tone for the week and get us in the right mood,\u201d said Release member Mariah Case.<\/p>\n<p>Other events will be occurring throughout the week in honor of Human Trafficking Awareness. Tuesday night, there will be a documentary about human trafficking at 9 p.m. in the Tucker Movie Theater.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday will be TOM\u2019s Day Without Shoes, where people are encouraged to go the entire day without their shoes on in order to raise awareness of the fact that many people do not have access to shoes.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2469\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2469\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0613-XL.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2469\" src=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0613-XL-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Students gather as the worship band sings songs about ending injustices.
