{"id":322,"date":"2014-09-26T15:49:57","date_gmt":"2014-09-26T15:49:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/?p=322"},"modified":"2014-09-26T23:30:00","modified_gmt":"2014-09-26T23:30:00","slug":"gps-for-your-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/?p=322","title":{"rendered":"GPS for your future"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By: Brittney Johnson<\/p>\n<p>This week the career development center decided to provide a little guidance for students who are considering graduate education.\u00a0 For three days, September 23<sup>rd<\/sup> through 25<sup>th<\/sup>, the Graduate Preparation Series, GPS, carried on informational meetings; informing those that are curious about the who, the what and the where\u2019s of graduate school.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesdays&#8217; workshop kicked off with the steps it takes for preparing for Graduate School. They had information about promoting the idea of seeing yourself as a brand; working on who you are making, which is something that will get your foot in the door and reminding those who attended, to find their calling and make sure they are on the right path.<\/p>\n<p>They were encouraging students to take your experience as an undergraduate and use it to navigate through this possible new chapter in your life.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_340\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-340\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_6162.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-340\" src=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_6162-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Seniors gather in the Tucker Student Center for GPS. It also gave a little insight into whether their preferred Universities were right for them or not.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday, at 9:30 a.m., the series offered students an option of two separate workshops. In the Tucker Movie Theatre there was a \u201chow-to\u201d workshop featuring a guide to navigate your career. No matter what your dreams were, the ways to plan and execute those dreams were offered.<\/p>\n<p>The other option was offered in one of the classrooms within Tucker, room 327, there was crucial financial information given.
