As executive student government elections wrap-up, read about the candidates for vice president, secretary, and treasurer.<\/p>\n

Bailey Hierholzer
\nHometown: Heath, TX
\nMajor: Elementary Education<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Bailey<\/a><\/p>\n

Bailey Hierholzer wants to become executive vice president because of her passion for Gardner-Webb and its people, both students and staff. According to Hierholzer, this quality will make her an ideal candidate to represent the student body.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to make sure that [the university] is the best place it can possibly be for every single person involved,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Hierholzer is thankful for the opportunity to run for a student government office.
\n\u201cI am so blessed to have this opportunity to serve such amazing people and to be able to continue to make Gardner-Webb a better place,\u201d said Hierholzer.<\/p>\n

Shelby Putnam
\nHometown: Rock Hill, SC
\nMajor: Political Science\/History<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Shelby<\/a>Shelby Putnam had already considered running for an executive student government position when she was appointed to the SGA club funding committee this spring.<\/p>\n

\u201cI became interested in the treasurer position because of the focused responsibility that it has in regard to clubs and the student body,\u201d said Putnam.<\/p>\n

According to Putnam, she is a good candidate for executive treasurer because of the relationships that she has built with other students this year, as well as her hard work and involvement.<\/p>\n

\u201cI try to take an active part in participating in school activities to support the events that happen, especially the music department,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Putnam is currently the treasurer of the Pre-Law Society, and is involved in the Delight Ministry as well as Release the Captives.<\/p>\n

According to Putnam, she stands for the values that Gardner-Webb promotes.
\n\u201cI embody a service attitude for my community and for Christ,\u201d said Putnam.<\/p>\n

If elected, Putnam would like to encourage involvement among the student body, especially in athletic and theatrical events.<\/p>\n

\u201cAttendance at these events would help us support our fellow students and encourage community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Putnam enjoys the relationships that she is able to form with professors and fellow students.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love having mentors as professors,\u201d she said. \u201cThey are able to lead me in a good direction both academically and in life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aliah Price
\nHometown: Charlotte, NC
\nMajor: Marketing, Minor: Communications<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Aliah<\/a>Aliah Price wanted to continue her involvement in student government, especially when she was encouraged to run for secretary by Bailey Hierholzer, who currently holds the office.<\/p>\n

\u201cBased on the responsibilities that she has, I think I would perform well in that position,\u201d Price said. \u201cI would be able to do a lot of things to benefit our student government.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, she believes that her organizational and time management skills will benefit her in the role.<\/p>\n

Price also feels optimistic about the future of SGA.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the people we have running now, we have a really great year ahead,\u201d she said.
\nPrice loves Gardner-Webb for its caring faculty and staff.<\/p>\n
