BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb University recently hosted an exhibition of work by artist and adjunct professor Matthew Jones.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jones stated that many times \u201cpaintings are put on a pedestal,\u201d but that he wants his work to \u201cbring them down into being these more humble, handmade things.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

His work predominantly features self-portraits and his family depicted through paintings, which Jones adds is intentional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat inspires me most is my family and my experiences with them. I hope that everyone can relate to them, even though they are personal images,\u201d said Jones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jones\u2019 work could be found in the Tucker Student Center\u2019s Ali Pouryousefi Gallery from Feb. 16 through March 8, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
