{"id":5529,"date":"2025-03-26T19:37:41","date_gmt":"2025-03-26T23:37:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/?p=5529"},"modified":"2025-03-26T19:37:42","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T23:37:42","slug":"will-mens-golf-be-top-dawg-this-spring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/?p=5529","title":{"rendered":"Will Men&#8217;s Golf Be Top Dawg This Spring?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By: Vileska Gelpi; Photo Courtesy of USC Upstate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fripp Island, S.C<strong>.- <\/strong>The Gardner-Webb men\u2019s golf team concluded their 2024 season with an almost Cinderella ending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"668\" src=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-1024x668.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5530\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-1024x668.png 1024w, https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-300x196.png 300w, https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-768x501.png 768w, https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-1536x1002.png 1536w, https:\/\/gwu-today.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image.png 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After beating the No.1 seed High Point (3-1) in the semifinals of Match Play, the No. 4 seed Runnin\u2019 Bulldogs lost a hard-fought battle to the No. 2 seed Winthrop (4-1) in the Championship Match to win the Big South Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The four-day conference event was played on the Par 71, 6,526-yard course at the Ocean Creek Golf Course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Graduate senior Max White (Tampa, FL) led the team as he won the only point for the Dawgs\u2019 against Winthrop on the Championship Match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sophomore Jack Boyer (Greensboro, N.C.) lost (4&amp;3) in the finals, meanwhile Jules Bondil (Pertuis, France) lost his match to help Winthrop clinch the Big South title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gardner-Webb was the No. 7 seed and posted a team score of 8-under par 276 for a two-shot lead after the first round of stroke play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can the Bulldogs get their happy ending this year during the 2025 Big South Championship?
