As November comes to an end, National Novel Writing Month, NanoWriMo, does too. NanoWriMo is an international writing competition that began on November 1 and ends on November 30 before midnight.<\/p>\n

The goal of NanoWriMo is to complete a novel of at least 50,000 words in order to receive a \u201cWinner\u201d web badge, certificate, bragging rights, a paper manuscript of the novel, free of charge and the opportunity for the novel to be published.<\/p>\n

At Gardner-Webb University, there are two people who are at the footsteps of victory.\u00a0 Sophomore Becca Leap has written approximately 45,002 words as of Thursday, November 20.<\/p>\n

Leaps\u2019 novel is about \u201cfinding your way into adulthood while in your junior year of college.\u201d She loves this competition. She said, \u201cIt is a great way to release stress.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stephanie Oliver is an American Sign Language Interpreter at Gardner-Webb and has completed about 30,000 words of her novel, which includes \u201chistorical fiction with a little sci-fi,\u201d says Oliver. Oliver has also enjoyed the competition and she is open to doing it again next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
