Student Government Association hosted Open Mic Night Wednesday Aug. 31. Hundreds of students gathered on the bottom floor of the Tucker Student Center to enjoy a night full of karaoke and food.

“It’s always been a Gardner-Webb tradition to have Open Mic Night every third week of the month. We are so happy to host the first one of the year tonight and just have everyone come out for a night of fun,” Student Body President, Blake Elizalde said.

Open Mic Night is a two hour long event. From 8-10 p.m. students are given an opportunity to showcase their vocal talents. The sign up is easy. Just show up and visit the table and write down a name to secure a spot on the performance line up.

Hannah Decriscio, senior at Gardner-Webb, attends just about every Open Mic Night.

“I think Student Engagement should continue to host Open Mic Night because it truly brings all of the students here closer together for a night of fun. It allows us to forget about the stress of being in school by giving us a break from studying,” said Decriscio.

The next Open Mic Night will be the last Wednesday in September.
