Thursday Sept. 1 the Bulldogs hosted the Saints at Spangler Stadium. GWU scored a whopping total of 8 touchdowns leaving an impressive stamp on the first game.

Jamari Brown, no. 3 defensive back, starts off his senior season with three tackles;one assisted, two solo. As one of the 2022 captains, Brown shares his gratitude and excitement for what is to come for the rest of the season.

“The way we came out from the start we knew what type of game it was going to be. We jumped on the opportunity to show out and put our best foot forward. I am very excited and ready to take on Coastal next,” Brown said.

Not only are the players pleased with how Thursday’s game went, but cheerleaders are too. Senior cheerleader, Brittany Stauffenburg, reminisces on the gameday atmosphere.

“The football team has improved a lot from seasons past and had a lot more energy out there on the field. We had a ton of family and friends come out to help us cheer on the team. The student section was also packed, so that was good to see,” Stauffenburg said.

When speaking with the fans at the game, they too are excited for what’s to come.

“The hypest moment in the game were the back to back touchdowns. I would definitely come back to watch another game because the energy tonight was out of this world. I saw extreme improvement in the team,” said Maria Mosqueda. The team will take on the Chanticleers at Coastal Carolina Saturday Sept. 10.
