The yearbook staff has made it possible for students to become a part of making the yearbook.
Students will be able to interact with the yearbook in a different way. It all started when Nathaniel Allman, a freshman and member of SGA, brought up the idea.
“Using Instagram, allows students to submit photos to the yearbook by simply adding a hashtag to their post,” Allman said. “I got this idea from my high school back home.”
Allman said the Instagram account in high school allowed their yearbook to capture moments that made high school memorable. He hopes it will have the same results at Gardner-Webb.
“Only appropriate photos will be printed in the yearbook, but the great thing is everyone has equal opportunity to be published in the yearbook,” Allman said.
Allman said students now have the power to take and submit a photo. But, guidelines will have to be followed as to what can be printed.
If any students want to participate, follow “gwuyearbook” on Instagram and hashtag your photos to #gwuyb15 and your photo may be selected to be in the yearbook.
He explained how students no longer will have to be in the right place at the right time, but will be in control of the amount of their participation.
Hailey Abernathy, a sophomore, thinks that having the Instagram account will help in the variety of photos.
“If one of the photographers for yearbook wasn’t able to get there then they could get pictures from Instagram,” Abernathy said.
Senior, Kyndal Davis, said regarding the 2013-2014 GWU yearbook, “It was a good yearbook overall, but the pictures were a little repetitive with the same people being in them.”
Now Davis will be more likely to engage with the yearbook. “I take a lot of pictures around campus, especially from Tucker,” Davis said.
Submit your photos on Instagram and you may see them in the pages of the 2014-2015 Gardner-Webb yearbook.
