Siftar Wins the Fripp Island Preview

Fripp Island, S.C. –  Senior  Neza Siftar of the Gardner-Webb women’s golf team took home medalist honors at the Fripp Island Preview, hosted by USC Upstate on Nov. 2-4. Siftar shot a combined score of 222 (+6) over three rounds to capture her first win of the season. 
  
Siftar said, “It is a great feeling to win here again. Now I just must have this same energy in the spring for the conference tournament.” Siftar also earned Big South Player of the Week honors with her victory. 

As a team, the Runnin’ Bulldogs finished runner-up after a three-round team total of 924 (+60), falling four strokes short of the winning team title. GWU posted rounds of 309, 310, and 305. 
  
Senior Kayla Dowell finished just outside of the top 10 in 11th place after a 54-hole score of 232 (+16) while freshman Eva Bulger had a combined score of 239 (+23) over three rounds. Junior  Georgia Barr  finished in a tie for 24th after carding a three-day total of 242 (+26). 
  
Senior Vileska Gelpi came in just behind Barr after shooting a 244 (+28) over her three rounds of action. Rounding out the golfers for the Bulldogs were  Ashley Huffman (251, +35) and Anna Snoblova (261, +45). 
  
This concludes the fall portion of the women’s schedule while the Bulldogs will return to the fairway on Feb.12-13 at the Oyster Shuck Match Play hosted by The Citadel.
